Detailed Info

The game's premium currency is named "Gems" - it can be bought with real money, or with the game's regular in-game currency "Coin". Unlike most premium currencies, the player is not incentivized to buy larger quantities of gems via bulk discounts - you get the same dollars-to-gems exchange rate whether you buy a $10-pack or a $100-pack.

The gem store contains cosmetics, account upgrades (character slots, extra bag slots, etc.), boosters for extra experience gain, keys for the main loot box (Black Lion Chests), mount skin loot boxes, specific mount skins (for a higher price than the loot box, of course), as well as various cosmetics offered for a limited time.

The core game (Guild Wars 2) is free-to-play, with several restrictions in place, especially concerning the trading post. There are also 2 expansions, each of which costs $30, with more expensive "Deluxe" and "Ultimate" editions available.
